Sam Harris is one of my favorite atheist authors and speakers. He’s taken some controversial positions (transcendent states through meditation and applying science to moral issues) but has argued them well (if not convincingly enough for his many critics). He is the author (published in over 15 languages) of the bestsellers: ‘The End of Faith’ (for which he won the 2005 Pen Award for nonfiction), ‘Letter to a Christian Nation’ and ‘The Moral Landscape’. His books, atheism and controversial ideas have been discussed in: Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Nature, Scientific American and other journals. And he has written for: Newsweek, The Economist, The Atlantic, The Annals of Neurology, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe and others.
Sam Harris finally received his doctorate in neuroscience from UCLA to compliment his degree in philosophy from Stanford University. He and his wife, Annaka Harris, founded Project Reason, a nonprofit foundation devoted to spreading scientific knowledge and secular values in society.
