There is nothing wrong with hard-hitting debate. But name-calling isn't about debate. It's simply wrong and doesn't promote a healthy, friendly, forum environment. At the moderator's discretion, name-calling might get you suspended or it might get the discussion moved to the Dog House. Other than that, the only rule is don't do anything illegal -- such as online bullying or stalking, threats of violence or harm, etc.
   
If you post a new topic, you are responsible for it. If the discussion gets overheated, you should warn the instigator, responder, or both. If that doesn't work, you can:

• Start a new topic in the Dog House, titled: "Continued from: <forum title, topic title> discussion".
• To avoid confusion, you should copy and paste the relevant discussion thread (or last part of it) over to the Dog House to start off the continuation discussion.
• If you want, you can email me at: mailto:Moderator@AtheistExile.com?subject=Dog%20House%20request to request moderator assistance with the conflict.

Note that you're just moving the affected thread or last part of it, NOT the whole topic. The rest of your topic discussion can continue as normal. Alternatively, the entire topic can be moved to the Dog House. It's up to you.
   
The purpose of the Dog House is to keep the rest of the forum as uncorrupted from distasteful, mean-spirited, exchanges as possible. It is also our way of minimizing rules and moderator intervention by asking topic owners to be responsible for their own topics.
